How come so many American's don't believe in evolution, they don't want it taught in schools. It makes no sense?

Because they'd rather believe in a book written by bronze-age goat herders. It's really crazy. These same people have NO problem using iPhones and automobiles. They'll get on the internet through various computing devices and talk to people on the other side of the world in real time. If they get sick they'll go to modern hospitals and take modern medicine. But the second evolution comes up? Suddenly science is a lie and there's some kind of great science CONSPIRACY! It's nonsense!

Americans, not American's. It's simply plural, not possessive so just add the letter "s." It's really not that difficult to do. Anyone - not just Americans - who does not accept evolution as the scientific fact that it is, is just plain stupid. And yes, sadly America seems to have more than its fair share.

The US is plagued by the nasty disease of Protestant fundamentalism fueled by rabid ignorance, poor education and well organized Christian hate-groups who have managed to hijack the GOP and intend to turn the current secular constitutional republic into a God Warrior dictatorship reminiscent of the Dark Ages.

Over the last 10 years these nasty deplorable people have teamed up with White Supremacists and NeoNazis and with the cooperation of Putin recently placed a puppet in the oval office. Since Nov, the NC GOP in violation of the NC constitution stripped the governorship of all power because a Democrat was elected to the office. In DC, week 1 has brought an attempt to derail the Ethics commission and another attempt to strip workers of their rights and protections against the religious zealots who may employ them. And a rash of the so-called religious "freedom" bills attempting to provide legal immunity to Christian god warriors who feel "called" to persecute their neighbors is slated to reappear in GOP ruled states across the nation.

Especially for the fundamental Christians, the belief in God's Creation of the world and Adam an Eve... Then the sin of taking the fruit . These stories are corner stones for those who accept the Bible as literal .
Because of the sin, a need for human redemption compelled the sacrifice of Jesus, an Christianity.
These Churches would cease to be without a belief in creationism. Not all but many Churches are big business.
They refuse to think outside the box, the possibility that God could use other methods, is ignored.
Now we have a generation of home schooled children who are isolated from the benefit of modern knowledge. They are taught the over 5'000 year old knowledge. That is where their information stops, its sad.

Because evolution is a mere concept, opinion, something man made that doesnt agree with the truth. Its something that doesnt make sense and people are starting to realize that.the fact that people believe we evolved instead of the more logical truth or there being a higher power that created us. Just as we create today, we too were created and came from somewhere.

Have you been in a coma?! Evolution is taught in various ways in schools throughout America! The 10 commandments, prayer and Bible lessons have been outlawed.

i used to be a buddhist before converting into christianity.
i was taught in school about evolution ... i discarded this teaching even as a buddhist. why?
it makes no sense to me.
now, as a christian, i know i was right.
no christian who knows her bible will ever accept nonsensical doctrines or
rubbish claims that are NOT biblical.

The Pope is a Catholic. His religious beliefs don't include evolution. His scientific education enables him to accept science subject to moral constraints. His knowledge of evolution enables him to enjoy the speculation of 1920 Catholic thinkers reconciling faith to evolution just as Aquinas reconciled faith to Greek philosophy.

Modernism is (or was) a threat to Christianity. Catholics and Fundamentalists were at one time in agreement against the application of academic standards to scripture study. Catholics under Pope Pius came to agree with the biblical scholarship of liberal Protestants and abandoned the position still held by Fundamentalists.

"The Pope believes in evolution," is a sloppy, thoughtless way to say that.

Anti-science exists outside Christianity including food and vitamin fads, crazy beliefs about vaccination no belief in men from outer space. It is wrong, of course, up to claim it makes no sense is exaggeration. It is one expression of a common modern error.

The POPE? is satan messenger deceiving million of people and leading them straight to hell, why do you think they sacrifice under the vatican??

contrary to some false propaganda, 3/4 of the United states population actually do believe in the Christians biblical God. and while some are misled to believe in evolution the bible does contain the book of genesis account where God testifies through Moses that the first man and woman were "created" not evolved.
and if you go to the LDS scriptures in the Pearl of Great price, the book of Moses plainly says that Moses himself was a witness of the creation, It literally says: He saw "every particle" by the power of the Spirit. therefore when the jews preserved the book of genesis as their bible the Christian world actually has a legal document of what happened, even if it is re translated and doesn't fit the definition of prophecy perfectly, where no Jot or tittle Is taken away.
as for the quotation of the Pope ! he has been refuted by many protestants as being a false pope and of course because of teaching false doctrines. this current pope is considered to be at least a false teacher.
