57.6% of people in Wales stated their religion as Christian at the most recent census.
The most common denominations (in descending order) were Church in Wales, Presbyterian Church of Wales, Catholicism, Baptist and Methodist.
Legally speaking, it is a Protestant Country because the official church system of the United Kingdom is Anglican (Queen Elizabeth II is the supreme governor of The Church of England that extends to all of the United Kingdom). However, there are churches of many different denominations and many different religions in the country itself.
There is also the Church of Wales that, while it is not considered the established church of the country, is one of the largest (if not THE largest) church hierarchies in the country and they consider themselves Catholic, despite not being associated with the Papacy.
If you are looking at the country from a demographics standpoint, only about 58% of the country is Christian of any form. There is about 32% of the population that have no religion, 7% unstated, 2% Islam, and the rest are otherwise.
Catholic at the beginning and but the Jacobites lost war against British protestants.
Lets call it Christian and be done with the division
Anglican is "official" church but there are catholic Churchs as well
Wales is non conformist protestant, so we are mostly chapel not church of England, though we do have both.
The majority of the people in Wales claim to be Protestant (even though most do not practice their faith). There was a Catholic majority once in Wales but that was long ago. Look into the History books as to why that changed.
Countries are not Christian: people may be
Pagan. Druids everywhere.
