SAT math level 1 question?
If x + x + x = y, then x - y =
Explanation on how to get answer
回答 (4)
If x + x + x = y, then x - y = -2x
x + x + x = y
2x + x = y (Do NOT combine all the x's into 3x!!!!)
2x = y - x
2x = -1(x - y)
-2x = x - y. Final.
Note: x + x + x = y is the same as 3(x) = y
So just substitute 3(x) for y in the following: x - y
So we compute
= x - 3(x)
= -2(x)
in terms of x.
