It's very well respected, and very tough. Good school. If you can get in there, you're doing well.
Worst thing about Buffalo is "Buffalo Winters." Famed for blizzards (6 feet of snow in October! - it has happened, happens every few years), long dismal cold winters. Huge school, intro level classes may have 100-200 students for lectures. But for what you want, it's a really good school. GO there!

pro: if the school is highly prestigious you will get connections to jobs, networks for internships among other things.
cons: you might not get in if your not competitive enough, in both academically, sat-wise, or.
