When were muskets completely obsolete in war?

the War of 1870. Both sides used rear loading rifles. earlier, the American Civil War used rifles -- rifled barrel but many were hand loaded from the business end like a musket. officially, a musket was smooth bore. I think they were obsolete, but not completely out of inventory, by the Mexican-American War. [Can't say about europe]
