😉 Bonjour, Hello

Nothing is able to make you ' creole '. It's the language that may be creole, not people. The music as well, may be creole, as a style.

So the question is: can you speak creole?

I don't care. Why should others? I can send my DNA out for some company to tell me my heritage. Will it change my life? My citizenship is American. My heritage seems to be French/American Indian. It's time to focus on our citizenship.

The term Creole and its cognates in other languages has been applied to people in different countries and epochs, with rather different meanings. Today most people think of creole people a mixed race, a person born in the West Indies or Spanish America but of European, usually Spanish, ancestry.

Creole is the French equivalent of the Spanish word "Criollo". It originally referred to people of pure European descent (Spanish, French etc) who were born in the New World. The definition has changed a lot over the last 2 centuries. In Louisiana particularly, "Creole" refers to mixed people, mostly French and Spanish mixed with Black or Native American.
