Los Angeles building permits?

Okay so, in the UK I can go to the local council website and find planning permission applications that have been accepted/declined or whatever. They're published online in a monthly document.

That will give me details on the development such as how many units, # of bedrooms etc. I can also view the design plans, site plans etc. I can pretty much access everything that was sent in to the local authority.

So my question, is there a similar website or set up for LA? I'm really interested to see what type of things are being built there
