(a) The current ( I ) and resistor voltage (Vr) are both along the +x axis direction. The inductor voltage (VL) is along the +y axis direction. The applied voltage(Vo) is the resultant vector of Vr and VL.
(b) Using Ohm's Law on the resistor,
Current I = 12/100 A = 0.12 A
(c) Reactance of inductor = (2.pi.50) x 0.8 ohms = 251.3 ohms
Hence, rms voltage across inductor
= 0.12 x 251.3 v = 30.16 v
(d) Active power P = (0.12)^2 x 100 watts = 1.44 watts
Reactive power Q = 30.16 x 0.12 volt-amperes = 3.619 volt-amperes
(e) The power triangle is a right-angle triangle with P and Q represented by the two sides of the triangle, and the hypotenuse represents the apparent power.
Apparent power = square-root(1.44^2 + 3.619^2) volt-amperes
= 3.895 volt-amperes
