Hi I am wondering how does it work when someone comit a debit card fraud?

So I got this friend in Canada that knows a guy that keep asking her for her debit card so he can deposit 2000$ and split the money with her. All he need is her card and nip etc and he claim to give her the money few days after. This guys is rich because of that he got lot of money but I was wondering what is happening when he does that like how does it work and is it legal what are the consequences. Btw the guy told her to empty her account first so theres 0$ on the account.

This has "scam" written all over it. She should have nothing to do with it. You NEVER give anyone your PIN - once he has the card as well, he can use it to commit any other kind of fraud and get her blamed for it.

Its a scam and your 'friend' knows it............ if it sounds too good to be true it is, scams like this target greedy and uneducated people

It's gotta be some kind of scam.
It could be that the $2000 is from some OTHER scam and he wants the fraud traced back to your friend instead of him. Or he could plan on overdrawing the account, leaving your friend to repay the bank. Does she really want to find out? It can't be anything good for her.
