Why do all the females in my family care about thier appearance so much?

Everyday they always wine over how fat they are, how they have wrinkles or acne, how they can't go outside because they're not wearing makeup. I don't get it. Why do they care so much about what other people's opinions over how they look? I tell them they look fine but they always gibe me some bitchy comment on how they're sooooooooo ugly. Can somebody please explain?

You mean "whine"? I'm not sure why you would imagine that a bunch of strangers on the internet would understand your family's behavior better than you would. Can you explain that?
