It's typically associated with the horror film 'The Omen' with a little boy who is called Damien, he's pretty creepy to say the least. I also like the name Damien but would never ever use it because of the film!

People don't, there are plenty of kids called Damien. Some people don't like the name.

Because of the Omen. I personally think if you like or dislike a name based on a movie, you aren't ready for kids anyway.

They hate it because it has some sort of Satanic connotation I think. It isn't a good connotation, but it certainly isn't a deal-breaker in my opinion! I've never seen The Omen. I think Damien is a really handsome name.
There is also a song called "Damien" by Stray From The Path. It also references demons kinda frequently but its cool - still not a deal-breaker!
