Nasty cough,Chest pains,fatigue .... any relief?

This cough I have had since before Halloween when I caught a cold, however the cough has lingered.. sometimes it's mellow like a clearing throat, sometimes it's deep in my chest and sometimes it's a full coughing fit that doesn't seem like it wants to end..this coughing is causjng my chest to be sore and hurting..
It does feel like I have mucus buildup however I only cough up not even a drop of mucus..
I have tried everything
DayQuil/NyQuil
Tylenol Cold and Flu
musenex severe
And the only thing that seemed to help even a little bit was a cough syrup my grandmother had that was a prescription and it contained codine
However it only helped in the sense that I was able to rest and not cough as bad..but still it never helped fully.
I cannot take it anymore..idk what to do, I don't want to go to a doctor and have another bill over a cough if I can avoid it..

Anyone else have this issue?? Or know a way or anything that will help??

I am 27
Non-smoker but I live with two smokers (who don't care about being around anyone while smoking including me while I have this cough )
I am asthmatic, K have a inhaler that is medicated..(it doesn't even help)
Sometimes I'm coughing so hard it causing me gagging or vomiting
