I just got my braces off and received a retainer. Does the space between the top of my mouth and the top retainer go away eventually?

not sure what you mean. The retainer is supposed to fit fairly snugly into your mouth, as far as I know. they even take an impression of the roof of your mouth so they can shape the retainer so it fits right in. I didn't have any "space between the retainer and the top of my mouth" when I had one. You should ask the doc.
