we have:

f(x) = 2x² - 3

then:


A) f(c) = 2(c)² - 3 = 2c² - 3


B) f(x + h) = 2(x + h)² - 3 = 2(x² + 2xh + h²) - 3 = 2x² + 4xh + 2h² - 3


C) [f(x + h) - f(x)] /h = [(2x² + 4xh + 2h² - 3) - (2x² - 3)] /h =
(2x² + 4xh + 2h² - 3 - 2x² + 3) /h =
(4xh + 2h²) /h =
(factorng out h and simplifying)
h (4x + 2h) /h =

4x + 2h
