Got hired for a job or at least I thought I did filled out all the paper work to find out I didn't get hired help!?!?

After meeting with the manager for a second interview it went well, she told me that the job was only seasonal which was okay with me.. We talked and it seemed like it was going well , she told me her associate who interviewed me first spoke highly of me .. We talked about filling out my paper work what documents I needed and once I brought it in I would be hearing back from here to start making my schedule .. She even told me to buy a suit right away as that is the standard dress code .. I handed in my hiring forms and heard nothing back from her , so I Called back and no reply so today I tried again because the position should be starting now and was told that was not hired and they ment to tell me before but I guess forgot .. So now I'm out of money from buying this suit had to borrow money from my brother .. Should I have seen this coming ? Anything I can do ?
