What is the compositions of Deluxe waterproof enamel? I am a painter and most of the time I get lots of paints on my hands and arms,will you tell me if it is safe? My answer is,usually, enamel is the glass-like substance used for coating metal, porcelain, etc.;for decoration or as a protection. As far as the composition being concerned, enamel is being made of several substances such as oxides of lead and tin etc. then mixing and melting together with borax,glass and quartz while the final products are silica and boric of acid salts. As being a painter, the chances of getting contamination are very common; in order to prevent that it is advisable to wear protective gloves and overall outfit or taken prompt action to wash away the paint as soon as possible.
