I personally think only certain people could handle it and I'm not one of them, it seems like a ton of work but I understand the positive of it. My father was a navy man and it was SO hard on my mom raising 2 kids by herself.

I was one. its not that different from being a spouse to any other person. You just spend a lot of time alone while they are deployed
