Art's age is two thirds Cals age and bob is three years older than art. The sum of their ages is 45. Find the age of each

"Art's age is two thirds Cals age"
If Cal is x, then Art is (2/3)x.
" bob is three years older than art."
Bob is (2/3)x + 3
"The sum of their ages is 45"
x + (2/3)x + (2/3)x + 3 = 45
If you don't like the fractions, multiply both sides by 3.
3x + 2x + 2x + 9 = 135
Solve that for x, Cal's age. Use the info about the other ages to find those.
If Cal is x, then Art is (2/3)x.
" bob is three years older than art."
Bob is (2/3)x + 3
"The sum of their ages is 45"
x + (2/3)x + (2/3)x + 3 = 45

x + y + z = 45
2x = 3y
z = x - 3
2x + 2y + 2z = 90
3y + 2y + 3y = 96
y = 12
x = 18
z = 15
x + y + z = 45

3y + 2y + 3y = 96
y = 12
