1) State the Domain and Range of the following in set-builder notation:
f(x) = |x| - 4
回答 (4)
The domain is the set of all possible input values. There aren't any restrictions on what you can use for x, so it would just be:
{x | -∞ < x < ∞)
The range is the set of all possible output values. When you take an absolute value, the result is always 0 or higher. Then if you subtract 4, you get -4 or higher.
{y | -4 ≤ y < ∞)
domain is the real line
range is x >= -4
domain all x real
range (-4 closed,infinity)
Domain (- infinity, positive infinity)
