When a couple are not living together due to the husband being away because of his job, does that mean that they are "separated" or other?
I am having a hard time figuring out the terminology for a Husband and wife who are not living together due to their jobs; I was thinking "separated' but that sounds like they're divorced. Could you please tell me what is the right way to describe them? "Apart" maybe?

Yes, "apart", due to employment.
They are married. End of story.
Married. Being "separated" is a legal definition for people who are legally married but don't want all their assets treated as such. If you are happily married but sadly apart for work reasons, you are still 100% married.
