Every second a lamp generates 9.8 × 10e20 photons with a wavelength of 434 nm. How much energy in kilojoules is produced at this wavelength?

Planck’s constant, h = 6.626 × 10⁻³⁴ J s
Speed of light, c = 3.00 × 10⁸ m/s
Wavelength, λ = 434 nm = 434 × 10⁻⁹ m

Energy produced
= N h c / λ
= (9.8 × 10²⁰) × (6.626 × 10⁻³⁴) × (3.00 × 10⁸) / (434 × 10⁻⁹) J
= 450 J
= 0.45 kJ
