You will need to update the APN settings in the phone.
...Settings>Wireless & Networks>Cellular Networks> Access Point Names
These are the settings that allow your phone to access the wireless carrier's servers. You'll have to look on the 'net to find the correct settings for your wireless carrier. (Google: '[carrier] APN settings')
When you find the settings, go the phone (APN settings), and press the ADD or + button to create a new profile. Then enter the settings that you found online. Depending on the carrier, there may be a few (or a lot) of fields that don't require an entry. Just type in (carefully) the settings that are shown.
When you've finished entering the settings, SAVE the profile (via the menu at the top). Page BACK, and you should see your newly created APN profile as a choice. Select it if it isn't already selected.
After a few minutes, you should see the network data symbol in you status bar (E, 3G, 4G, LTE), depending on your service. If you are getting a slower rate than you expected, check the setting that refers to "Preferred Network type" and be sure you have chosen the setting that gives you the fastest connect you can get from your carrier.
