The sum of two integers is 15 and their product is less than 36.

(a) Let x be one of the two integers.Set up a quadratic inequality in x.
(b)How many pairs of integers can satisfy the given conditions if both integers are positive?

x+y=15
x+15-y
(x)x(y)<36
x<36/y
b)all possibilities for first statement x+y=15
(1+14),(2+13),(3+12),(4+11),(5+10),(6+9),(7+8)
for second statement (x)x(y)<36
only (1x14)and(2x13)are lees than 36
so 2 pairs
