English Grammar?

Closing our eyes cannot stop anything from happening.
好像該這樣說才合理。

Something happened.（＝出事了！）
Something has happened.（＝已經出事了！）
以上都正確。
但否定時不會用「現在簡單式」寫成：Something doesn't happen。
而是用「過去簡單式」寫成： Nothing happened.（＝沒有發生狀況。）
或「現在完成式」：Nothing has happened.

當A means B. 時，可能有兩種狀況：（see p.959 Collins CoBuild English Dictionary for Advanced Leaners)
1. If something means another, the first thing leads to the second thing happening.
An enlarged prostate does not necessarily mean cancer.
The change will mean that the country no longer has full diplomatic relations with other states.
2. If something means another, it shows the second thing exists or is true.
Trade and product discounts can also mean big savings.
Just because he has a beard doesn't necessarily mean he's a hippy.
你給的句子前後內容好像沒有類似上面例句裡的因果關係，在邏輯上可能站不住腳。

當然就文法上應該用didn't happen，時序才合理：
在事件發生之後，你才故意閉上眼腈裝成沒看到的。（在事情沒有發生前，你閉眼睛做什麼？！）
而且在我說這話時，你已閉上眼睛了：
Something happened, and then you closed your eyes and pretended that it didn't happen.
所以，你的句子也許也可以改寫成下面這樣：
Closing your eyes does not mean nothing happened.

"Closing our eyes"指的是一件事，所以用第三人稱使用的助動詞does not
