Calculate the final pressure, in atmospheres, for each of the following, if the gas amount and volume are constant

a. A gas with an initial pressure of 1.20 atm at 75 oC is cooled to -32 oC

b. A sample of N2 gas with an initial pressure of 780 mmHg at -75 oC is heated to 28 oC

✔ 最佳答案
(a)
P₁/T₁ = P₂/T₂
Then, P₂ = P₁ × (T₂/T₁)

Final pressure, P₂ = (1.20 atm) × [(273 - 32)/(273 + 75)] = 0.831 atm

====
(b)
As in (a), P₂ = P₁ × (T₂/T₁)

Final pressure, P₂ = (780 mmHg) × [(273 + 28)/(273 - 75)] = 1186 mmHg
