How long does a cartilage piercing have to be in for?

My high school volleyball season will end in the beginning of November. Right when it ends I want to get my cartilage pierced. However, club season starts at the end/beginning of December, but my first tournament won't be until end of January, so I could practice in it since my coach lets me. Do you think I'd be able to get mine pierced in this time period? I would obviously have to take them out for my first tournament. And the season ends in June, but then high school starts right up in June, and my high school won't even let me practice with earrings., so getting it in the summer is a no go. Do you think I could get them pierced in beginning of November and then take it out for a tournament by mid-end January?

Cartilage piercings take 6-12 months to heal when done properly. So no, two months wouldn't be sufficient and your piercing would probably close. BUT there is a solution to your problem: Sport piercing retainers. Piercing retainers are made of a flexible plastic so if your piercing gets hit the trauma won't do any damage and won't cause any damage to the surrounding area. They are most of the time clear in color and barely noticeable. So what I would do is get it pierced in november, give it a little time to heal and then when you have your tournament switch your jewelry to the sport piercing retainer :) you can buy these online or in pretty much any store that sells piercing jewelry such as Claire's. Good luck and I hope I helped :)

It takes 6 - 12 months for this piercing to heal when done properly with a needle.
It takes 12 months or more when done with a gun.
You have to keep the jewelry in 24/7 until it is fully healed.
So, no, you shouldn't get this done because you won't be able to give it the time it needs to heal.

My Cartilage piercing took a year to heal, if you can't at least commit to 6 months I would wait until you can keep it in for 6 months.

Get it done with a needle so it will heal faster, mine was done with a gun, took longer to heal. But realistically, if you can't keep it in, don't waste your money.

For at least 6 months, to fully heal

So no - 2 months is not long enough
