What can I do with my boss?

My boss hates me and I hate him. I like my job and I like the company. He won't let me switch me to another division in the company and work for another manager because he has a huge ego. I'm stuck with him. I go above and beyond my duties at the office, I haven't taken any vacation all year not on purpose I just work a lot, I come in on my off time without pay. I have self taught myself everything I know. He has admitted to me that he doesn't treat me right and doesn't give me praise for my hard work citing the reason why is a previous employee from 7 years ago that screwed him. I will try and make small talk and he will respond by looking at the coworker next to me as if he is making the small talk and bring him in the conversation. I don't know what to do. I've tried talking to him and he gives me lame excuses. Do you have any suggestions to help or should I get my resume out?

You should not be going in on your off time without pay. It's illegal for an employer to allow you to do that and it would appear that your boss doesn't appreciate it anyway. You might try to make the point that you're sorry that someone screwed him over years ago, but you're not that person and you should be judged on your own merit.

You are your worse enemy. take your vacation and stop working on your own time. You are enabling this ahole to continue to treat your the way he does. Get your resume done, and start applying for jobs.

Quit. either he will realize that you are an asset too important to lose or you will quit and he will lose all power over your life and you can move forward. If he does keep you negotiate better conditions/pay, etc.... for yourself because at that point you are in a position of power. Take advantage of the situation
