For dinnerware made before the advent of microwaves, are the dinnerware okay to be used in the microwave oven?

it depends what they are made of. you can easily test any vessel to see if it's safe. take a Pyrex measuring cup and fill with water. put the vessel you are testing in the microwave with the Pyrex glass. nuke it for 2 minutes. touch the vessel in question. if it's hot, it's not safe to use

Most of it is as nothing has changed really.Just make sure there is no gold or silver on the pattern.
