Given the equation y - 4 = (x + 8) in point-slope form, identify the equation of the same line in standard form.

- x + y = 10
3x - 4y = -40
y = x + 12
y = x + 10
and how did u get the answer

Standard form is
.. ax + by = c
where a, b, c are relatively prime and the leading coefficient is greater than 0. (If a=0, that means b>0.)

You have
.. y - 4 = (x + 8)
You want x and y on the same side of the equal sign, with x positive. You can get there by subtracting y.
.. -4 = x + 8 - y
Now, you need to get rid of the constant 8 on the side of the equal sign that has the variables. Subtract 8.
.. -12 = x - y
Swap sides to put into standard form:
.. x - y = -12 ... <== ANSWER

This is not one of your selections.
_____
The form
.. y = x +12
is "slope-intercept" form, not "standard" form. See the source link for a variety of defined forms of linear equations.

The only correct answer that I see is the third answer :

y = x + 12

To get this answer, simply rearrange :

y - 4 = (x + 8)

Add '4' to both sides

y = x + 12

Note that the above equation is in slope - intercept - form not standard form.
In fact, none of the above are in standard form. The third option therefore seems much more reasonable.

Hope this helps !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
