I can't handle my Diabetes?
I'm a Type 1 diabetic. I was diagnosed last December at 22. It's seriously been 10 months and I can't get a hang on this. I don't know what to eat. I have sporadic craves for sugary high carb foods that I can't control because I don't know what to substitute them with. I'm a very finicky eater and there are simply just a lot of foods that I don't like. Having diabetes makes it all the more hard for me to eat. I wish I could just know what to eat and have someone concoct a perfect meal plan that'll get my sugars under control, it'd make my life so much easier. I need a cleansing real bad and it's probably not gonna happen from me doing it on my own, I need to make it doable and easy. I suck at cooking and I just eat out a lot. If anyone out there with a heart can help me out with this, I'd be so happy. So happy..

were you not sent to a dietitian? they help us to make choices that are sometimes better for our bodies than what we think up.
When I eat out, I order the burger or sandwich, toss the bun or bread and just eat the meat, cheese and veggies!! That saves me about 35 grams of carb for the one serving, 2 slices bread!! NO french fries! Instead I order onion rings, much less grams of carb.
Or I order Chef Salads! Everything in them is good for us. You can ask that some veggies are not included.
If you are not currently seeing an endocrinologist for your diabetes, set up an appointment to see one. Also, ask for a referral to a dietician. Another good idea is to go to the bookstore, library or look online for information on the glycemic index. Some foods are less likely to cause a spike in your blood sugar and the glycemic index will tell you which foods these are. I am a type 2 and I have had luck using a low carb diet. You might want to ask your doctor about this, but don't rule it out if your doc doesn't think it is a good idea. Do some research online about low carb diets and type 1 diabetes.
You need to see a dietitian and diabetes educator.
These people can help you make the right choices.
You don't have to eat anything you do not like but it may be a good time to TRY some new foods.
You can read on line about carb counting and how to do it every day.
Good luck .
Perhaps you should ask for a referral to a dietician who can help you with the correct food choices that you will actually like to eat, thus making your diet easier on you.
