My toilet keeps making a foghorn noise and it's really loud. What could this be? And can I fix it myself ?

It is because the incoming water main pressure is too high and it is causing the ball valve inside the tank to vibrate. Just turn down the water pressure to the tolet a turn at a time until the noise stops.

Go to Home Depot, or wartmart and buy a toilet repair kit. (well under 20 dollars)
It will have all the new stuff you need, and it can be done following their directions in under an hour.

You'll be good as new.

Its the washer in the ball **** (ball valve) that has broken - you should be able to do it yourself, I am a 57 year old female with arthritic hands and I would do it myself.

all the water supply parts need to be replaced == that is the wall to tank line and the parts that are inside the tank .... You can DIY if you will start with shutting off the water at the wall -- take photos of the insides of the tank so you can remove and replace and have a reference picture to follow if necessary ...go slow and carefully tighten the new parts -- the H2O supply line should have a twist or two of teflon tape to prevent any leaks ...

You have an air leak somewhere. You probably need to have the toilet pulled and re-seated over the pipe.

Don't blame it on the toilet. You're the one that is farting so loud.

Have you checked that there is not a foghorn somewhere down there?

Flush a toilet roll down it should unblock
