Gieco Questions?

2016-10-13 8:15 am
I tried to get a policy from gieco but when i tried to buy my quote, i got a nessage saying "thanks for your request..." and it continues saying "in order for us to continue reviewing your request for insurance you must fill out a paper application which will arrive in the mail within 5-7 days"

My thing is:
1- is this normal ?
2- How long while it take for me to get insurance after i fill out the apllication
3- why cant i do it online

Any answers will be helpful, thanks

No, it's not normal. You should CALL Geico and ask them what is going on.

It's likely they can't find info on you in their system, no insurance history or credit rating info?

This means they roll back to the old system of filling out a form and sending it in. They double check what info you supply, and act from there.

Yeah, that's normal. While you didn't mention any details about yourself, I'm guessing you're either young, newly licensed, a combination of both or you have an 'interesting' history of accidents and / or convictions. If none of those are you, then there is definitely a problem.

If you are young and / or newly licensed, you're not someone they really want as a customer. Young drivers and new drivers are almost a guaranteed accident, and young new drivers are just a question of when the accident report will come in. Insurance companies will insure you, mostly because they have to, but they won't make the process easy. They're basically hoping you'll get frustrated and go somewhere else.

No it is not exactly "normal" but online quotes are unreliable and inaccurate anyway. No company that I know of will bind coverage on a vehicle without first getting a paper document from the applicant.
After signing on the dotted line and paying them, most insurance companies will bind coverage either instantly or within 24 hours.

In my opinion, "equotes" are a waste of time.

Maybe there is something in your insurance history that flagged up a query that could not be dealt with online.
You have the choice of contacting a competitor or filling out the form of course. Personally I would look elsewhere as 5-7 days means they are not customer friendly.

Hi so as this company is not so switched on that might be the case.
