This woman at work said she can't have lunch with me because she's pumping breast milk in her car. Is she lying to me?

It's not like tapping a beer keg. Of course it can take 30 minutes.

What you should be wondering about, is how come your employer isn't providing a suitable place to pump.

It can take that long. But if its that important that you have lunch invite her along and dont get bothered by her pumping. The sad reality is that many women feed they can only pump in their car or the bathroom when they should be able to do it right at their desks or in the break room. Its people who feel uncomfortable around it that are the ones who make women feel uncomfortable about doing it.

30" is not an unreasonable amount of time to do this.

It can take ages from one boob and then the other. It's nice your colleague is open enough to tell you the truth about her dinner breaks and I hope she is eating while pumping or will soon become exhausted. When I pumped milk I got terrible afterpains from the birth so I gave up. Happy your workmate is able to continue providing what is best for her baby. Why not offer to get her some sandwiches and a drink and ask to join her? She may enjoy the company rather than just feeling like a milka cow.
