In car maintenance expenses alone, how much can one expect to spend in a year more or less.?
Assuming one does all the maintenance expenses, including oil changes, ect. how much can one expect to pay more or less in a year in all maintenance expenses. and also, depending on how much money it is in a year for all maintenance on the car, is it really worth putting maintenance in car if the person only bought his used car for $2,000

I expect, generally, $1000 a year; I drive an aging Japanese luxoboat. A domestic might run half that; a pricey German or British sled, several times that.
Example year on my 1988 Volvo:
3 oil changes: $100 filter/oil/washer and gas to/from store. I use good oil/filters.
2x Tie rod ends, 2x ball joints: $75 or so.
1 tire repair: Valve stem. $15.
Exhaust weld: $25.
Banjo fitting: Free from parts car.
Example on my 1990 F250
1 Oil change. $40.
1 Brake line. $15.
Gas tank. $130.
Rear shackle: $75.
I try to keep up on maintenance and will replace parts when they are showing wear vs. when they fail.
The total cost payout would be very vehicle specific. General maintenance (fluids, filters, hoses, etc.) is not very expensive. However, if you are talking about a vehicle which was purchase for two grand you are almost guaranteed it will need substantially more than simple general maintenance.
If its in good shape, just get oil change once a year @ about $20.
