The Native Americans won the Battle of the Little Bighorn.

The fight was an overwhelming victory for the Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho, led by several major war leaders, including Crazy Horse and Chief Gall, inspired by the visions of Sitting Bull. The U.S. 7th Cavalry, including the Custer Battalion, a force of 700 men led by George Armstrong Custer, suffered a major defeat. Five of the 7th Cavalry's twelve companies were annihilated; Custer was killed, as were two of his brothers, a nephew, and a brother-in-law. The total U.S. casualty count included 268 dead and 55 severely wounded (six died from their injuries later), including four Crow Indian scouts and two Pawnee Indian scouts.

The confederation of the Cheyenne, Arapaho, Lakota Sioux (Native Americans) won, they destroyed the entire deployed part of the US 7th Cavalry under hotheaded US General, Armstrong Custer. In that time it was a greatest US military battle defeat, and the greatest battle won by the native Americans (Indians).
By combining their camps and warriors the natives greatly outnumbered Custer and his cavalry. Custer, even though he was warned that many native warriors had rifles/ were expert cavalry, and even though Custer held the high ground, the natives had fortified, and he was outnumbered 3 to 1, divided his US forces in 3 weak parts in the face of a superior number of cavalry and an entrenched enemy, and....charged....to predictable suicidal death for his command.

The Indians won the battle... but in the process they lost the war.

It's like so many similar incidences in American history where gross incompetence is a catalyst for a 'righteous' war.

The Alamo, the USS Maine, Pearl Harbor, the Gulf of Tonkin Incident, 9/11, etc etc.

The Native Americans won. This battle became known as Custer's last stand and at the time, Custer and his men were regarded as heroes but this views has largly changed over time

Custer in a battle plan to capture women and old men in encampment and negotiate native warriors into returning to reservation lands fractured his forces. Ignoring his Indian scout's request to change into native cloths and perform death ceremonies he led 210 of his force of 700 cavalry into what he was informed as 800 Indians. Thousands awaited his arrival, Custer believed they were all sleeping in late and he would take them by surprise.

Custer never made it into the camp to capture his women, children, and old men to hold as a bargaining tool for Indian warriors to return to reservations. He was met by thousands of warriors. The natives described Custer's retreat and slaughter as a, "Buffalo run" Custer's forces were seriously under commanded, his troops inexperienced emigrants from the East. His attack shattered. I believe the natives were most correct in that his famous "last stand" was as they described a, "Buffalo run"! Evidence supports that a few did fall short a retreat toward a ridge and fall into a loose battle line for a brief moment where most Natives fell, other Native reports discount any battle line.

The Indians 'won the Battle of the Little Bighorn' (Greasy Grass). They (natives) most certainly ended up loosing the 'War'!

The Bighorn soured the politicians in the East, and hardened (if that was possible?) the way the Natives were regarded from that point on.

The Indian tribes won, and Colonel Custer and his men were obliterated because of Custer's incompetence.

It depends on whether you take the long or short view. The short view is that Custer and his men lost the battle; the long view is that the Native Americans lost. After the battle the US Federal Government put the Native Americans into prisons, reduced the size of the reservations, etc.
One interesting fact is that Sitting Bull and some of his people came to Canada and received much fairer treatment by the Canadian government. While Sitting Bull was in Canada he and his people obeyed the laws and caused no trouble. In fact it was the Canadians who warned Sitting Bull not to return to the US. we know what happened when he returned to the US.
