Without completely poisoning your home, no, it is impossible, and if you go the exterminator rout, it is not only expensive but results will only be temporary.
Not to mention, poisons will be more dangerous than any bug you will get in your home.
Now your friendly occasional spider is one of the best free exterminators you can have, They do quite well keeping pest bugs under control.
Now no one can solve your hatred for natures small animals but you, but some of the good bugs like spiders are certainly more your friend than enemy.
I get crickets real bad and a cockroach now and then, but I have 5 house spiders around that do pretty good at keeping the crickets down, and those buggers like to gnaw on you while sleeping.
If not for my spiders, the crickets would eat me alive. My spiders are out of the way so their messy web is no problem and they have never been a nuisance or pest.
Now going into a house that has been vacant any length of time, sure,bugs and spiders take advantage of a protected place. As you settle in and do routine cleaning, usually the bugs will leave.
