英文中的形容詞組成與文法?

running across...文法分析上是叫現在分詞片語。作用是把某主角的一個動作(run)以其狀況形式(可視作時空上)描寫。
這句作者想描述兩個情景：1. 我(在廚房)看見一隻mouse，2. 這mouse(我在廚房內的情景)是在地面上跑過的。
中文思維組合情景描述甚少會"層層疊疊"，但其實亦有層遞修辭法，但中文由於沒有"現在分詞"這類處境性的用詞，因此多會以形容詞作描述或直接以動詞描寫行為/動作。但英文有多種分詞形式和形容詞形式可表達不同意義的描寫、指示、感嘆、反對等等。只能多看複合句式並理解意思後留心寫法結構來仿照學習。

第二問題

當中的第一詞已經是"形容動詞"XXXLY的副詞詞性，因此不會用"-"形式來連合所形容的東西(動作/情況)。
但是並不是指(例如HIGH)這個形容詞便永遠不會用"-"來組詞。例如High-pitch sound, high-end product, long-distance relationship, simple-minded都是常見的用法，因為high所要形容的東西要在量(high)加上另一個"質"的獨特組成才能描寫。但是一般的常情的形容則不會用"-"結合。並且留意X-Y兩字都必需是合適的詞性X(adj)-Y(noun)才成。

以上問的兩組詞義和詞性都不可能用"-"作組合成的。

1. I saw a mouse in the kitchen, running across the floor.
為何是用running呢？
本句的saw是「不完全及物動詞」的感官動詞，running across the floor是「受詞補語」，用「現在分詞」時，我不一定全部過程都看到。但如用bare infinitive當受詞補語，則是全程看到：I saw a mouse run across the floor.
本句的in the kitchen是修飾述部的修飾語，如果移到句前較佳，可以避免讀者閱讀時，難以判定running的邏輯主詞究竟是「我」，還是「老鼠」。即寫成：In the kitchen, I saw a mouse running across the floor.

2. 還有psychically challenged與highly paid 這種中間不是該加-嗎，如highly-paid？
像psychically challenged或highly paid等這種兩個字以上的組合詞，雖然在詞性上都是形容詞，如果是當作名詞的「修飾語」(attributive use)，放在名詞之前時，中間必須加上連字號（-），但是如果放在動詞之後，當「補語」(predicative use) 用時，則不可加連字號。My present job is a highly-paid one. I am highly paid.
