Doctrine for the Qur'an on a shelf?

I know (Or at least have heard) that it's disrespectful to put anything on top of the face of the Qur'an and I respect that as much as I can. But if it's on a shelf surrounded by other books, what's the doctrine then? Is it sacrilegious for an infidel such as myself to have it surrounded by other books? Is there anything against it touching other religious texts?

The best place for a Qur'an is in the trash bin.

There is nothing wrong with putting the Qur'an high or low. or having it touching other books. Just place it somewhere safe, where it's not likely to be knocked off... and if it does, it is not an issue. We just like to keep it neat. There is no inherent act of worship in storing the Qur'an, as it was revealed for our guidance.

Of course, going out of the way to disrespect it as some infidels do is asking for God's punishment. That does not seem to apply in your case. However, I have to say that as an infidel, which you have admitted, you shouldn't really have a copy of the Qur'an as you are considered impure. Unless you have only a translation and even then, I have my reservations pending further clarification from the Prophetic directions. As a disbeliever, you can hear some Qur'an and touch a few verses, that much I am sure of. But for you to have a complete Qur'an, in any language especially the original arabic, is where I have grave concerns. The little you as a disbeliever are allowed to have or listen to should be sufficient in you accepting Islam after which you can have access to the Qur'an. This is because you want to be respectful, otherwise I wouldn't have mentioned all this.

Salam No it is not disrespectful to put any book on the face of the Qur'an but it is better if we put side by side with other books in the shelf so the Qur'an can be surrounded by other books. The holy Qur'an is not allowed to be put on the floor because it can be dirty and can be stepped over by the people

No. If you are a devoted religious person to your faith, god will protect you. I am not Muslim, but I have a cousin who was born into it, who is, and has much responsibility about it (basically be pious and strong and kind and you will be respected if not rewarded). "God loves" god or Jesus, or Muhammad doesn't punish if you make a mistake... All that matters, is what is in your heart.
