Are all DVRs used to determine a show's viewership ratings?

I am trying to get Direct Tv cable installed along with a DVR box and i was just wondering whether all DVR boxes are accounted for when it comes to determine how many viewers are actually watching a certain show and if I record a show and watch it later, if that will also contribute to the viewership rating. And if not, is there a certain DVR box that I can get that does that? Does Dircet TV have any DVR box that can do that?

No, DVRs aren't used in determining ratings at all.

The Nielsen Corporation only collects data from its boxes it distributes to households and these only take "live TV" into account - not recorded TV of any kind.

Unless you are a part of Nielsen ratings you do not count. Your cable provider may know what you watch but Nielsen is the only one that matters

Yes, they know what you watch, record, even that scene in "Basic Instinct" that you rewind over and over :)

Whether those stats are used to determine ad rates or ratings is up to the networks and what they are willing to pay for. Nielson has a lock on the ratings market, but I'm sure that networks looking for more stats go to cable and sat companies to see their DVR stats. The issue for advertisers is that I can FF through commercials rendering them useless. I've noticed a trend toward not allowing FF during On Demand recordings, thereby forcing you to see the commercials.
