A person exposed to a new cold virus would not feel better for one to two weeks because

A) specific B cells and T cells must be selected prior to a protective response.

B) it takes up to two weeks to stimulate immunologic memory cells.

C) phagocytic cells must first be activated by the complement system.

D) antigen receptors are not the same.

E) V-J gene rearrangement must occur prior to a response.
請問為何答案是C不是D呢?
謝謝!

(C) is the only answer to mention "phagocyte".
Phagocyte is a sort of leucocyte (white blood-cell) capable of guarding the system against infection by absorbing microbes.(=cold virus causing diseases).Phagocytic cells must first be activated by the complement system. This treatment which cures takes one to two weeks.

因為這是new cold virus,患者本身沒有 memory cells can be called upon,所以反應較慢。

Antigens are foreign molecules that are specifically recognized by lymphocytes. When T-cells recognize antigens they have an increased response rate, however, that is not the case here. In this scenario, it does not matter that the antigen receptors are not the same for a previous pathogen because recognition is specific.
