"The Star -Spangled Banner" is about a specific battle in a specific war. "America the Beautiful", on the other hand, sings this country's praises; more appropriate for a national anthem, in my opinion.

Personally, I prefer America the Beautiful. It's easier to sing, and the lyrics are more meaningful.

The Star Spangled Banner has more historical significance but America The Beautiful would be easier for the average person to sing. I'm perfectly happy with the Star Spangled Banner but either would be fine.
