Can you give someone a cold sore if they already have HSV1?

I think i had a cold sore and gave it to my boyfriend who is now complaining of symptoms and he's kissed a LOT of people so i thought he'd likely already have it anyway so can he get one?

Cold sores are caused by HSV1, you're not likely to reinfect them in the same area that they all ready have it. You can pass it to other areas like their genitals if you give some one oral sex while you have a cold sore.
You're not going to reinfect them if they all ready have it on their mouth.
Most of the time cold sores are passed during child hood by being innocently kissed by a close friend or family member that has it. He should try to remember ever having cold sores (or ask a close family member if they remember seeing him with a cold sore) before meeting you.
