If you have sufficient equity you can get a HELOC (homeowners equity line of credit) or a second mortgage.

Go to a medium sized or small bank and talk to a banker. Show them on paper what you want to do- the details of cost and such. The more details the better.

You can get a personal loan to use for any purpose or a home improvement loan that has to be used for renovations. The only criterion is that you need to convince your bank or specialist lender that you are going to pay it back.

Do you have good credit and collateral?
