Caesar appears to have been a genius, and not least as a military genius. He was also a populist who constantly advocated for better treatment for the poor, which made him much more popular with ordinary citizens than it did with the Senate, who felt threatened by him. He held the post of Pontifex Maximus (chief priest), a title still claimed by the Pope. As Pontifex Maximus he recalculated the old Roman calendar, which was some 111 days out of date. This calendar became the Julian calendar, in use until the Gregorian Calendar was created about 1500.

Just one little bit, as I retire for the night:
It's Caesar, not "caeser".

Caesar
A Roman family name that became a title. In 46 B.C.E., Gaius Julius Caesar was appointed dictator of Rome for ten years, but he was murdered in 44 B.C.E. Caesar was the name of his family (Gaius being his personal name and Julius that of his clan or house).
The Battle for Secrecy—You Are Involved!
Julius Caesar is said to have disguised his battlefield messages by means of a simple substitution cipher—swapping each letter with one that is, for example, three places along in the alphabet. Thus, a would be written as d, b as e, and so on

He married Cleopatra I believe (or was it just an affair), but that was quite scandalous because Romans despised her and Egyptians.

He may have been an epileptic (he certainly suffered seizures).

Once held ransom by pirates, he had them killed after his release.

While working in a Roman thermopolium, he invented a special salad which became immensely popular and is still in use today.
