He was working as a cook in a Roman restaurant called a thermopolium and derived a combination for the house salad. It became so popular that people used to say "I'd like Caesar's Salad!" He used his new found popularity to become Dictator of Rome, until he refused to make salads for the pot luck at the Roman Senate. Offended by his arrogance, they stabbed him.
He changed the Roman Republic by setting the stage for transfer to Empire under Octavian/Augustus.
He brought Transalpine Gaul into the Roman world, with long term implications for France.
