Don't be stupid.
Why would you let your child get on a bus without adequate seating, when you know that it would be dangerous?
You sound like an awful parent.
I would. YOU pay for the buses in your district. this is ridiculous. I'd call the local news too.
You probably could if your daughter is hurt.
Since nothing seems to be getting done about the bus overcrowding, you need to get with some other parents and raise a stink, or go to the local news about it.
You may be able to- because it is against US Department of Transportation regulations to have kids standing in a bus while it is moving. There is a "capacity" number right on the side of the bus- thatis the legal number of passengers that bus is allowed to carry, by law. And the school operates "in loco parentis" - "in the place of the parents" - in which case, you certainly wouldn't allow your kid to stand up in a bus or a car while you were driving.
Go speak to a local TV reporter. The school district is *required* to supply transportation that conforms to the DOT regulations, as long as you live within a certain distance of school. You and the other parents involved should be able to file suit, and have enough buses assigned to the route.
So from the text, your child fell from a sitting position on the bus steps?
Must have inherited a special kind of stupid to do that...
