I bought the 3ds the day it came out but it's now in bad condition and is not working very well.

If there are still 3DS games you want to play, go for the New 3DS XL.If you just want one for the sake of having one but have no plans for it, waiting for the NX may be a good idea. It's about 7 months away, we hope.

Wait until he Nintendo NX, or get a New Nintendo 3DS so you can play Pokemon Sun and Moon.
