Question about the National Ensign.?

I'm in the US Navy and today when I was leaving the ship, I saluted the flag and the junior officer standing Officer Of The Deck didn't see me salute as I was leaving. He proceeded to stop me and was being a smart a** and said "Did you salute my flag?". Would the flag be considered "his" if he is standing Officer Of The Deck? This really offended me since he accused me of not saluting the flag that I respect so much.
更新1:

I just look at the flag being a part of everyone in the United States and it is quite disrespectful and selfish to even think about calling it your own.

While the flag isn't strictly ANYONE'S property on board the ship, the OD is in charge of the deck and everything on it during his shift. He was using the word "my flag" figuratively, since he ostensibly feels responsible to it, and for it. As you say, he was being a bit of a smart a**, but within his rights as the standing OD.

Relax.
Seriously, He doesn't mean it's "his" personal flag any more than it's "his" quarterdeck you were standing on.

Just redo it so he can see you do it.

where did he accuse you of not saluting the flag ?

did you leave something out ?

you just told us, he asked you if you had saluted his flag?

a simple "yes sir" would have answered his question

so , why all the drama and hysterical accusations ?

If I was enlisted (which I was, now retired), I wouldn't be quibbling about what an officer said unless I had legal counsel by my side.
