My Brother is very weird and impulsive?

Sorry this might be a little long but I need help. I think my older brother might have a mental health issue. He's 25 and he tends to get very aggressive and acts on impulse. I usually see him whisper to himself and he doesn't have any friends that I know of and usually sticks to himself. He gets angry over the smallest things and when he's angry, he usually breaks his own property (he broke like 5 laptops within 2 years and smashed his cell phone on the ground) and lies to my dad about how it broke when we really know he purposely did it. I don't know why my father keeps replacing these things for him.

About 8 months ago he got into an argument with my mother just because she was pressuring him to follow up on his college application and things escalated quickly. He started telling her to shut the **** up, called her a *****, and was telling her to suck his d**k. It pissed me off so bad that I yelled at him through his door and he went downstairs to the kitchen, got a knife, and started coming up the stairs towards me and my mom. My dad had to talk some sense into him and was able to get him to hand him the knife. He seemed to be remorseful after my dad talked to him but he continues to act on impulse. There are more incidents but it would make this post way too long.

I did some research and thought that it could be Intermittent Explosive Disorder but i'm not sure. My dad knows something is wrong with my brother but my mother is in denial.

@Man8 My father thought about bringing him to a specialist but my mother is in denial and the idea causes arguments between the both of them. Since my mother is in denial my father just leaves the situation alone to keep the peace even though he knows something is wrong with my brother.

Without getting into another argument, calmly look your mother in the eye and ask her what it's going to cost to have him seek the professional help he so clearly needs. In other words, who has to take the hit in order for him to get help? A limb can be replaced, but a life cannot. That's where this is headed.

Ask your parents to bring him to see a psychiatrist.

i think that the entire family needs to see a psychologist............
it shouldn't be just him...

it's obviously a very critical situation and if the problem escalates, the outcome could be dangerous or fatal...
everyone needs to have their voices heard here...

Well being that I don't know what impulsive means I can't judge the guy he's got problems to go for the knife what's he getting hot about.

Maybe it's time for the guy to move out and get his own place to stay at.

Why does everyone always think when someone does have a problem time to see a doctor if you don't have the red white and blue card no doctor won't see you they won't accept money neither. Neither will a dentist and that is bullsh!t
