My dog just ate hot sauce?

Hot sauce and jalapenos are not toxic in small amounts to dogs. That being said they are certainly not an appropriate food for your dog and could cause a severe stomach upset.Dogs are not used to having spicy foods like many people enjoy. Dogs can develop upset stomachs from food that contains more fat or spices than they are used to. Dogs also vomit much more readily than people. Many dogs will develop vomiting after eating foods high in fat, sugar or spices.There are quite a few human foods that can be shared with your dog but spicy foods would never be recommended.

I don't think a vet would be able to tell you anything other than to keep an eye on her for the next while and if you see anything you don't like, get back to him. Yes immediately he could make the dog vomit but later on, this is pointless really. Obviously of the sauce was 'hot' as in temperature, she may well have burnt her mouth etc. but I'm assuming you mean spicey? Eating this isn't a great idea, but I doubt it will kill her really. If you are seriously worried, or see something you don't like, call your vet for his advice.

Probably not. Maybe give her water if she seems to be in discomfort due to the spice.

Does you Chihuahua appear to be in pain? If not, I would say you're okay.
